This poster was made as part of a project for my Illustration III class. The requirement was to create a vector illustration of a movie poster using Adobe Illustrator. The movie I chose is one of my favourites of all time; The Nun.

I brainstormed many concepts, my mind was all over the place with this project. I finally decided on having Sister Irene walking through the halls of St. Carta with just the glow of her oil lamp, & Valak behind her, only visible through the light.

In the movie, the demon Valak manages to infiltrate St. Carta by disguising itself as a nun. I wanted to play on the idea of something being able to hide in plain sight, unbeknownst to the rest of us. I had Sister Irene looking away from Valak, despite it being so close to her, to represent the idea of the demon being right under everyone’s noses the entire movie.
